The Council has also decided to send follow-up letters to the concerned parties to encourage further contributions, said a press statement issued by Press Council on Thursday.

The museum, established on the Council's premises three years ago, currently houses a collection of items such as treadle machines,

manual cutting machines, proofing machines with both Nepali and English fonts and rulers, various sizes of tongs, sticks, rulers and heading blocks with photos

Other items include zinc blocks with old photos, galleys, frames, composing sticks with threads, manual typewriters, fax machines and old computer monitors, the statement said.

The Council claimed that this museum is the first of its kind and exemplary in the history of the global press. It is expected to provide valuable resources for the study and research of the printing press history.

The Council's appeal, issued by Senior Administrative Officer and Spokesperson Deepak Khanal, said, “The main objective of the Press Museum is to preserve and showcase historical materials related to the press, which were developed and used in various epochs, thereby providing knowledge to the  current and future generations about the evolution of the press.”

Likewise, the museum aims to serve as a hub for studying and researching the history of the press. The Council has also launched a dedicated sub-domain website for the museum, the statement read.
