Increase in groundwater irrigation

blog

Bhadrapur (Jhapa), Aug 13: The area irrigated by the groundwater irrigation project has increased in the district.

The irrigation facility from groundwater was expanded to 1,200 more hectares in the fiscal year, 2080/81.

Information officer at project, Ishwor Thapa, shared that financial progress of Rs 104 million was 100 percent, while physical progress 134.17 percent. The works under the project were carried out more than expectation, thereby resulting into maximum physical progress in the last fiscal year.

Under the project, 15 deep tube wells and 17 structures were constructed to expand the irrigation in the area that had no access to canal irrigation.

However, the budget crunch was hindering the target of reaching groundwater irrigation in 7,000 hectares of land in five years. (RSS)
