Kathmandu, May 1: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Ramji Yadav, has announced three important initiatives on the occasion of International Workers' Day.
In a video message on the occasion of 137th International Workers' Day or May Day today, Minister Yadav launched a five-year National Occupational Safety and Health Programme.
He shared that the OSH programme would ensure rights of every workers to safety, health and safe working environment.
Minister Yadav shared that a facebook live programme would be hosted once a week by labour attaches or consuls at Nepali Embassies abroad to facilitate direct communications, information flow and problem-solving with Nepali workers abroad.
Similarly, Minister Yadav stated that the workers affiliated to contribution-based social security fund would be provided loan at six per cent interest rate to purchase housing plot. Apart from it, arrangement has been made where workers can take loan up to Rs 15 million as per the rules, he underlined.
The Labour Minister added that policy reforms, institutional restructuring and job creation programmes have also been forwarded.
In the video message, he shared that the government is committed to ensure appropriate remuneration, working environment and labour rights for workers of all sectors.
Stating that everyone has been contributing in nation building from their respective places, Minister Yadav underscored that it is necessary for all of us to further develop the culture of recognizing the value of one other's contribution and respecting each other in coming days. (RSS)
