Multilingual heritage-poetry symposium held

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 12: Kabitaya Layaku, a Nepal Bhasa poetry campaign, in association with Kathmandu Metropolitan City, hosted a multilingual poetry symposium about heritage in the capital, recently.

Held at Tin Dega, Pachali area of Teku, the function was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol.

At the symposium, Suresh Kiran, Sneh Sayami, Laxmi Mali, Rami Priya, Rajani Mila, Manju Shrestha Singh, Rashmi Napit, Mimala Sharma, Basanta Nakarmi, Pushparaj Karnikar and Binita Bajracharya recited Nepal Bhasa poems.  Anita Lama, Deputy Mayor of Budhanilkantha Municipality, also recited a Nepal Bhasa poem 'in respect to culturally rich Newar community'.

Likewise, Bhumika Tharu recited a Tharu language poem while Chandra Bahadur Lama and Ishwor Thokar read out Tamang poems. 

Swapnil Smriti, Kumari Sharan Urawan, Hiramati Rana Magar, Usha Sherchan, Dhirendra Premarshi, Sita Tumkhewa, Chham Gurung recited their poems in Limbu, Urawn, Magar, Thakali, Maithili, Nepali and Gurung language respectively.

At the function chaired by Secretary of Kabitaya Layaku Rajani Mila, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Dangol announced that the Metropolitan City would be eager to orgnise more functions based on heritage and culture under the project "Revive Dabali'. 

Balkrishna Maharjan, Chairman of Ward No. 12 of Kathmandu Metropolis, expressed happiness to witness such a function. A message from Chairperson of Kabitaya Layaku Jyoti Prabha Tuladhar, who lives in Portugal, was also read out. At the message, Tuladhar hoped that the multilingual poetry about heritage would be documented in the history in the days ahead.
