Kathmandu, March 14: The first Asia-Pacific Network of Indigenous Women and Girls with Disabilities (APNIWDs) Kathmandu declaration emphasized promoting the rights of indigenous women and girls with disabilities in the Asia-Pacific Region.
More than 85 Indigenous women and girls with disabilities gathered for the first Asia Pacific regional convening from 9-11 March 2024, in Kathmandu, Nepal that aims to unite, share, and identify the issues of indigenous women and girls in Asia Pacific region and continued collaboration amongst Indigenous women and girls with disabilities and their respective organizations/networks/individuals around the regions.
The declaration stated that we, the representatives of Indigenous Women and girls with Disabilities from Asia-Pacific countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan, consolidated our common, collective experiences and shared our struggles in the convening in order to create a road map and collectively move ahead for indigenous women and girls with disabilities inclusion and engagement.
