Kathmandu, April 26: The National Forum of Photojournalists (NFPJ) is to host the International Photo Conference. This was announced during the 99th National Photojournalism Day observed here today.
At the interaction on the topic of 'Role of Photojournalists in Tourism Promotion' Association President Pradeep Raj Onta said that an international photo conference will be organized with the participation of 100 photojournalists and photographers from different countries to expand cooperation at the international level and promote tourism in Nepal.
He also shared that photojournalists are suffering at the hands of both the state and media houses for lack of life insurance, health insurance, and camera insurance among others.
Director General of the Department of Information and Broadcasting, Chabindra Parajuli, shared that the Department would establish a photo bank in Nepal in collaboration with photojournalists, which he said was necessary for promoting tourism and tourist destinations.
Press Council Nepal joint-spokesperson Ram Sharan Bohara mentioned that the Press Council receives complaints about photojournalists' creations being used without permission.
On the occasion, it was announced that a revolving fund of Rs. 300,000 has been established in the memory of the organization's life member and wildlife photographer, the late Chungwa Sherpa.(RSS)
