Karnali Provincial art exhibition begins in Surkhet

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 2: A provincial exhibition under the theme ‘Social Transformation: Fine Arts Campaign’ has begun in Karnali Province for the first time. 

Chief Minister Raj Kumar Sharma inaugurated the five-day exhibition, which began on Thursday, in collaboration with the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and the Nepal Commercial Artists Association Surkhet District Committee. 

The ‘Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition 2080’, organised by the Academy across all seven provinces, began from Surkhet in Karnali Province. 

During the opening ceremony, Chief Minister Sharma emphasised the challenges of revealing Nepalis’ natural abilities and arts, expressing them, and showcasing them to the world. 

He highlighted the necessity of art and culture for the country’s prosperity and assured sufficient support for fine arts development. 

The Karnali Provincial government is always ready to cooperate with the Academy, said Minister Sharma. 

The exhibition features 66 works of art by 46 artists, as announced by the Academy’s Chancellor, Naradamani Hartmchhali.

 He highlighted the pivotal role of artists in creating art and expressed optimism about the provincial exhibition encouraging local artists to progress. 

Yam Shrestha, Principal of Jananamuna Secondary School, Bhim Kumakhi, Executive President of Jana Sanskari Federation of Nepal, Dr. Nawaraj KC and others emphasised the significance of the exhibition. 

The Karnali Province exhibition will continue until March 4 at Jananamuna Secondary School, Surkhet.
