By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 19: Poet and lyricist Kala Sereng’s collection of poetry and songs, titled ‘Kalaka Antaraman’, was released amid a programme held in the capital on Saturday.
The Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bhupal Rai, unveiled the book.
This marks Sereng’s debut publication after spending 15 years in Hong Kong.
The book comprises 114 pieces, weaving themes that revolve around the memories of her homeland.
Sereng’s verses paint vivid imagery of Nepal’s lush forests, quaint village dwellings, the majestic Mount Everest, and the profound sentiments of love and attachment nurtured by ancestors and parents.
Chancellor Rai lauded the energy shown in Sereng’s poetry, emphasising the transformative power of art and literature within a nation.
Sereng expressed her intentions of encapsulating her journey and emotions through her poetic compositions.
She said that her writings were born from genuine emotion rather than scholarly theory or historical precedence.
Similarly, a music video of Sereng’s ‘Atitaka Yaadharu’ composed by music composer BB Anuragi was released in the programme.
Famous singer Anju Pant has lent her voice to the song. The music video covers the rural life of Likhu Rural Municipality Ward-9 of Okhaldhunga.
The lifestyle of a traditional farming family is presented in the music video.
Sereng and her husband, CM Sunuwar, are featured in the music video.
CM Sunuwar Wambu is also the actor in the movie ‘Sumnima’ based on Rai culture.
