By Our Correspondent,Birgunj, Feb. 15: Badri Binod Prateek, a journalist from Kaski, Pokhara, has been awarded the Gotame Journalism Award this year.

 The award is established by the Journalist Gopal Chandra Gautam Foundation in memory of Gopal Chandra Gautam, a journalist from Birgunj.

In a programme held in Biruanj on Wednesday, Mayor Rajeshman Singh of Birgunj Metropolitan City honoured journalist Badri Binod Prateek with a gold medal.

Jagadish Sharma, President of the Journalist Gopal Chandra Gautam Foundation, said that the foundation annually honours one of the best journalists with a gold medal and encouraged everyone to engage in honest journalism based on truth and facts.

Mayor Singh also expressed the metropolis’s readiness to collaborate in the interest of journalists and the development of journalism, urging everyone to practise journalism based on facts.

Upon receiving the award, journalist Badri Binod Prateek said that he felt a sense of added responsibility along with the honour.
