NEPSE posts double-digit falls, turnover stands at Rs. 4 billion

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 12: The benchmark of the stock market, NEPSE, posted a double-digit fall on Sunday, the first transaction day of the week. The index decreased by 10.50 points to close at 2,085.82 points on Sunday. 

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies decreased by 3.89 points to close at 374.75 points. A total of 10,571,199 shares worth Rs. 4.08 billion of 305 companies were sold in 83,877 transactions today.

The sub-indices of all groups, except hydropower, development bank and mutual fund decreased in today’s transaction. Sub-index of the manufacturing and processing group saw the highest fall of 168 points followed by the hotels and tourism and non-life insurance whose indices decreased by 88.08 points and 42.62  points respectively.

Similarly, trading group sub-index decreased by 33.52 points, life insurance by 30.50 points, microfinance by 16.04 points and finance by 9.03 points. Sub-index banking group decreased by 9.01 points, others by 0.41 points and investment by 0.22 points.

However, the sub-index of hydropower increased by 6.01 points, development bank by 3.77 points and mutual fund by 0.01 points.

Share prices of NIC ASIA Growth Fund-2 decreased by 10 per cent, Unilever Nepal Limited by 7.14 per cent and Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha 

by 7.13 points. However, share prices of Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha increased by 10 per cent, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower by 9.99 per cent and Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company by 6.71 per cent.
