Police seal Meenakshi Food Industry

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 7: Police have sealed Meenakshi Food Industry located in Mahalaxmi Municipality-8 in Lalitpur for selling expired and adulterated food items.

The industry has been accused of engaging in activities that adversely affect the health of the general consumer by re-labelling various expired food items and selling them in the market, according to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office. 

In a joint operation conducted by the Crime Investigation Office and a team of the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection, the industry was sealed on Monday at the presence of the local representatives.

According to Superintendent of Police and spokesperson for the Crime Investigation Office, Rabindra Regmi, during the investigation, it was found the spirit for deleting manufacturing date, date relabeling machine, date-expired cornflakes of Farm City brand, Chocos, oats and muesli, and various spices of Badsaha brand were found.

The Department has instructed the owner of the industry to be present at the office within three days along with the documents of the factory.
