Art workshop of Nepali, German artistes begins

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 6: A two-day ‘International Art Workshop 2024’ has begun at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts with the participation of artists from Nepal and Germany.

 The workshop was jointly inaugurated by the Chancellor of the Academy, Naradamani Hartamchhali, and the German artist Helge Achenbach on Monday. 

Hartamchhali expressed his gratitude to the artists who came to Nepal from Germany, adding that the present world was like a global village. 

He said, “When Nepal and Germany engage in such activities, it sends a positive message by increasing the affinity between the two countries. It is necessary to continue such activities in the future.”

German artist Helge Achenbach said that he was happy to come to Nepal as a guest and mentioned that he would encourage other German artists to visit Nepal as well. He said, “We also want to welcome Nepali artists to Germany.”

 Stating that Nepali art will be spread through such programmes, he expressed eagerness to see the work prepared during the two-day workshop.

Speaking at the event, Sanjay Bantawa Rai, head of the Contemporary Painting Department of the Academy, said that the painting workshop would contribute greatly to the exchange of art and culture between Nepal and Germany.

Nepali artists including Naradamani Hartmchhali, Lalkaji Lama, Devendra Kumar Kafle 'Thumkeli', Palsangmo Lama, Pradip Adhikari, Sauraganga Darshandhari, Dineshwar Mahato, Sanjay Bantawa, Aruna Hingmang, Sangi Shrestha, Jupiter Pradhan, Mukesh Malla, Keshav Raj Khanal and Mukesh Shrestha are participating in the workshop. 

Similarly, German artists such as Botti Hans-Hermann Bottenbruch, Helge Achenbach, Alexandra B.C. Bottenbruch, Alexander Eliezer, Elaus Fottinger, Bernd Zimmer, Daniel Zerbst, Carsten Fock, Armin Baumgarten, and Susanne Kamps participated in a two-day art workshop alongside Nepali artists.

 These German artists have arrived in Nepal as part of the Nepal Art Exchange prgramme. 

The workshop is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday.
