By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 30: In commemoration of ‘Martyrs Day 2080’, an art workshop focusing on the ‘Sacrifice of Martyrs in Nation Building’ began at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts on Monday.
The artworks crafted during the workshop will be showcased at the gallery of the academy from January 30 to February 5.
The Chancellor of the Academy, Naradamani Hartamchhali, highlighted the significance of remembering the contribution of martyrs to society and nation-building through the workshop.
He emphasised, “The workshop aims to vividly portray the invaluable contributions of the martyrs through artistic creations.” The former Chancellor of the Academy, KK Karmacharya, expressed the opinion that the substantial contributions and sacrifices of the martyrs have ushered in radical changes in the country.
Highlighting the importance of the workshop, Karmacharya said that the workshop will serve to etch in the memories of future generations the sacrifices made by the martyrs for the country.”
Sanjay Bantawa Rai, the head of the contemporary painting department, conveyed the idea of using art from the workshop to perpetuate the memory of martyrs’ sacrifices for nation-building.
Artists, including Bhim Bahadur Shrestha, Renuka Maharjan, Surem Deshar, Bibek Mukarung, Chandra Shrestha, Leeladhar KC, Palsangmo Lama, Dineshwor Mahato, Sanjay Bantawa, Aruna Hingmang, Sangi Shrestha, Jupiter Pradhan, Rakesh Chandra Shrestha, Dipendraman Banepali, Kishore Nakarmi, Keshav Raj Khanal, and others are participating in the workshop.
