Former PM Oli doing a film

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan.30: Former Prime Minister and UML chairman KP Sharma Oli is all set to act in the film ‘Nametine Ghau.’

 The film was announced, and the auspicious event for the film took place on Sunday in the presence of former PM Oli.

 Along with Oli, Gyanendra Shahi spokesperson for Rastriya Prajatantra Party, CPN (UML) lawmaker Sunita Baral, artists Ramesh Upreti, Dhiren Shakya, Nirmal Sharma, Bikrant Basnet, and comedian Himesh Panta were present at the auspicious event.

On the occasion of the ‘auspicious event’ of the film, Oli directed the first scene of the film as well.

The film ‘Nametine Ghau’ a biopic directed by actor Ramit Dhungana. 

Produced under the banner of Ramit Dhungana Film Production, the film will narrate the stories of 33 acid attack victims. The screenplay, written by Shivam Adhikari, took two and a half years to develop. 

The film will feature both familiar faces like Surbir Pandit and Ramchandra Adhikari, as well as new talents in the lead roles.

 Muskaan Khatun, Simran Khadka, Supragya Sharma, Eva Giri, Prati Paudel, Sanjog Rasaili, Sandeep Babu Lohani, Rachna Gautam, Prabhat Pal Thakuri, Aarti Acharya, Akhil Bajgain and others will be acting in the film.

Addressing the issue of acid attacks, Oli expressed his concern during the event, emphasising the need to end such incidents. 

He highlighted the societal preference for superficial beauty and urged people to recognise the importance of inner beauty and behaviour. The film aims to raise awareness about acid attacks, depicting them as heinous crimes, he added.

Director Dhungana said that the film would be shot at locations where the actual acid attacks occurred.

 The film unit has planned to shoot the film in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Banepa, Panauti, Nawalpur, Pokhara, Birgunj, and Chandrapur in Rautahat, Dhungana added.

Oli also posted on Facebook, “Actor Ramit Dhungana is making a film titled ‘Nametine Ghau’ to raise public awareness against acid attacks. Acid attack victims are also acting in the film. I had an opportunity to participate in the auspicious occasion of the film along with those victims. I recalled the moment when the law was enacted to control crimes against humanity like acid attacks. I was the prime minister at that time. Today, they proposed that I should play the role of the Prime Minister in the film as well. I agreed.”
