‘Dhorpatan’ to release on Friday

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan.10: Salpa Films has announced the cinema release of its new documentary ‘Dhorpatan’, also known internationally as ‘No Winter Holidays.’ 

According to a press release issued by filmmaker Rajan Kathet on Tuesday, the 79-minute film has screened at many prestigious festivals across the world and will be released in Kathmandu on January 12, at the CDC Cinemas at 5 pm.

The film’s production started in 2019, and it first world-premiered at Sheffield DocFest, the United Kingdom, in June last year.

 It then went to the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in South Korea and charmed audiences in India at the Dharamshala International Film Festival and Kolkata International Film Festivals, mentioned the press release. 

In December last year, it won the Nativa Prize at the AlterNativa Film Awards in Kazakhstan for being ‘culturally significant’ and was declared the Best Documentary at the Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival 2023.

“We are delighted to bring it home, and we are curious to see what Nepali film lovers will think of this film,” said Director/Producer Rajan Kathet.
