Makwanpur, Nov. 20: Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Thaha Film Festival-2023 scheduled from November 25 to December 1 in Thaha Nagar, Makwanpur.

The week-long festival, organised by Thaha Kala Kendra under the theme ‘Film Festival for Tourism’,  is gaining momentum with enhanced efforts in publicity and management.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Cooperatives of Bagmati Province, along with backing from Thaha Municipality, the festival aims to showcase a diverse range of movies, short films and documentaries.

Notably, attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy the cinematic offerings for free.  The event is geared towards fostering the development of Indrasarowar Rural Municipality as a miniature film city alongside Thaha Nagar.

Pramod Krishna Joshi, the Coordinator of the Thaha Film Festival-2023 Organising Committee, said that the festival would feature screenings of documentaries specifically created to promote tourism in Thaha Nagar.

Additionally, an observation tour of key tourist attractions in Thaha Nagar will be conducted, bringing together film producers, directors, artists, and other industry professionals.

The festival will also host activities such as artist honours, interactions with the production teams, and more.

Joshi emphasised that the festival would serve a dual purpose – not only identifying the significant tourist spots in Thaha Nagar but also striving to develop and promote these locations as ideal settings for future film productions, including movies, short films and music videos.

Anticipated to exhibit around two dozen films and short films, the Thaha Film Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of cinema and a catalyst for the cultural and economic development of Thaha Nagar, informed Joshi.
