Locals reported that areas such as Paktanglung Rural Municipality-6, Lelep, Ghunsa, Phale, Olangchungola-7, Yangma and some other places received snowfall.

Likewise, snowfall occurred in the higher regions, including Mamankhe of Sirijangha Rural Municipality-6, Yamfudin-8, Kalikhola of Sidingwa Rural Municipality-1 and Sanghu of Maiwakhola Rural Municipality-3 and 4.

Snowfall was also recorded in Papung of Mikwakhola Rural Municipality-5, Khezenim of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality-2 and Nalbu of Meringden Rural Municipality-6.

The Pathibhara region, located 3,794 metres above sea level, also received heavy snowfall.

Rajendra Mahat, who works for the Pathibhara Area Development Committee, said that the Pathibhara temple area received heavy snowfall while the upper foothills of the Pathibhara region experienced a regular amount of snowfall.

Following the snowfall in the high Himalayas, the temperature has fallen significantly.

Dabaphuti Sherpa, a local businessperson from Olangchungola, said that the cold had increased significantly since Saturday evening after the snowfall occurred. He expressed concerns that the drop in temperatures, combined with the snowy conditions, might impact tourists visiting the Kanchenjunga region and other tourist destinations.

On the other hand, the snowfall and rain have delighted the local farmers. This marks the first winter rain and snowfall of the year, bringing joy to the farming community.

The farmers said that the rain provided much-needed relief for their winter crops, cash crops and cardamom.
