Republic a great inspiration for nation building, President Paudel says

Kathmandu, May 29: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the republican system has offered us an opportunity to move ahead by being united for a prosperous future and to ensure our entire political rights.

Addressing a special function organized at Tundikhel today, the President stated that the republican system has connected the people to each other and has also inspired us to build a shared nation. "This has offered ownership to one's ethnicity, language, religion, community, civilization and land. So, this is a great inspiration for us for nation building," President Paudel added.   

Likewise, the President stated the generation's expectations are not met only from the changes in the political system and governance structure, adding that there should be changes in the character of the state regime, political integrity and values too. "Otherwise, behaviour doesn't support the political transformation."   

In his speech, the President said that political integrity, norms and values should be followed to safeguard the republican values and make it more prosperous. 

"It carries own norms and values, and moral boundaries. We cannot fulfill the responsibility of history by keeping such boundaries away," the President added.

Stating that a strong government has been formed after the successful elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) in the changed political context in the country, President Paudel called for good governance, reforms in public service delivery, economic revitalization, zero tolerance against corruption and social progress as per the people's aspirations.

Likewise, the President argued that redtapism, irregularities and malpractices were the major enemies of the present time and stated that citizens with wonderful dreams of the democratic republic should not be made disappointed from such malpractices.

President Paudel shared that citizens were looking for prosperity and this could happen only from the maximum use of our resources.   

In his speech, the President made key focus on political stability, development, economic prosperity, shift in politicians' behaviours, our governing style and a fully competitive, judicious and effective operation of our political parties and people's representative institutions. (RSS)
