Opportunities Through Internet

blog

Internet has advanced its reach on nearly all aspects of the human world and has facilitated the lives of people universally. Through it, one can send an email, connect on the messenger, use apps for timing one’s fitness regime, organise one’s schedule, etc. One can also earn a degree online, work remotely, join a Zoom yoga session, and learn tutorials on the arts and crafts as a hobby. Most of these are on an individual level where personal necessities are provided for along with additional amenities online.

Apart from an individual level, internet has become obligatory even in an organisational level. Companies are structured around online networks where communication is carried through emails, company-wide meetings are hosted through Zoom, and clients and customers are reached through social media such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. By boosting an ad for products, services, and vacancies in the social media, companies now constantly scout for potential clients and employees alike. It is thus a given fact that tech-smart companies have a better shot at success today.

Countries too are making the most of the online sphere. In Latin American countries, mobile apps such as WhatsApp are the major route to communicate, message, and connect. Super-apps are booming in African continent and closer to home in Nepal, social media has spawned its presence. In the pandemic days, internet was the most common and often the only means of communication. It showed the world that futuristic visions of hyper-dependence on online portals could be eerily real.

Today, smart online perusal means better leverage at education, career, and personal as well as professional life. Instead of just relying on the class lectures, students can make the best of the information available in the internet. YouTube has tutorials, lectures, and past questions papers and answers on almost every subject. Then there are online education websites such as Coursera, EdX, etc. that offer free courses that can boost CV. As such, learning has never been so accessible through a few clicks on the smartphones.

At work, internet can assist on research and communication as well as on building professional connections. It has become so extensive that employees are hired through online interviews. Social networking sites such as LinkedIn can be a bonus here. Moreover, by making the most of the online resources, people can learn new skills whether it is coding, graphic designing, content writing, or public speaking. Personally, people can talk to their loved ones who are continents apart through a smartphone and a Wi-Fi.

However, like most aspect of human world, the internet too has a dark side. Even as AI boosted apps are growing online and can really positively impact the futuristic technology, cybercrime has become a real threat. Companies, governments, and organisations are thus investing in cyber security to strengthen their online portals against data theft, hackings, data leaks, and so on.

Even ordinary people can become victims of online frauds, misinformation, and scams which is why it is essential to be knowledgeable about the online resources, facilities, and services. It can be advantageous for organisations, individuals, and even nations to leverage the online facilities and services. But to be tech-smart means to learn the best ways to leverage the merits of the internet while also shielding against its demerits.
