By Our Correspondent,Pyuthan, Mar. 10: Efforts have been made to preserve the endangered folk songs and ‘Chudka’ dance popular in Pyuthan and Rolpa districts.

A few people from Pyuthan and Rolpa have formed a Folk Bhajan and Chudka Dance Conservation Committee to protect and promote them.

Chairman of the committee Bhupendra Prasad Adhikari said that efforts have been started to preserve the folk bhajan (hymn) and Chudka dance.

“We have tried to preserve the disappearing culture,” he said, “We have been performing dances by reaching different places.”

Stating that Hanuman dance is considered to be a very fun dance, Madhusudan Khadka, a member of the committee, said that many people prefer the Hanuman dance.

According to him, they used to go to neighbouring districts including Pyuthan to perform the dance.

Khadka said that programmes are being organised on the occasion of various fairs and festivals on institutional and personal invitations to protect the traditional culture.
