Jeep accident in Darchula: Two irrigation office employees die

By Krishna Bahadur Dhami, Darchula, March 31: Two employees of the Division Office of Water Resources and Irrigation Development died in a jeep accident in Darchula district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Engineer Officer Manisa Chand Pal, a resident of , Nisil, Mahakali Municipality-6, and Senior AO Bharat Bahadur Titara, a resident of Baril, Shailyashikhar Municipality-1. Both were working at the division office.

The accident occurred when a rented jeep ( Sudur Paschim Province 001 Ja 1641) was travelling from Kandapari of Shailyashikhar Municipality-4 towards Oshil for the purpose of monitoring and surveying development projects.

According to Ward Chairperson Ram Singh Thagunna, both employees died on the spot.

Four other people travelling in the jeep sustained injuries. The injured have been identified as Min Bahadur Pal, an office assistant from Dandakot, Malikarjun Rural Municipality-5, jeep driver Prakash Singh Thagunna, and locals Bikram Singh Mahar and Akhbar Mahar.

All the injured have been taken to Gokuleshwar Hospital for treatment.

According to Police Inspector Devendra Budhathoki of the District Police Office, Darchula, a police team from the Area Police Office, Gokuleshwar, reached the accident site and was engaged in rescue operations.

The accident took place at around 9:00 am on Tuesday.
