Foreign employment-bound workers can now undergo medical tests in any government recognized hospital

Kathmandu, March 31: The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has arranged for workers going abroad for employment to undergo health examinations at any government-recognised hospital.     

The ministerial meeting held today under the leadership of Minister Dipak Kumar Sah also decided to open registration for health institutions that wish to conduct medical examination for workers going abroad and to proceed with the necessary procedures in accordance with the provisions of Section 3 of the Health Institution Registration, Renewal and Monitoring Procedures, 2072.     

Krishna Prasad Bajgain, General Secretary of the Nepal Medical Entrepreneurs Association, said that while it is positive the government has implemented the provisions in the procedures, it is necessary to manage private sector health institutions and entrepreneurs to that end.     

According to the standards of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, currently 194 health institutions have been renewed. The health check-up of workers going abroad for employment has been conducted through these institutions.(RSS)
