Echoes of Eternity to be held on April 10

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 31: The first grand solo musical evening of singer Deepak Kharel, accompanied by a full orchestra, titled ‘Echoes of Eternity,’ is set to take place on April 10 at the Nepal Academy.

Kharel is set to perform 17 songs, including his timeless classics ‘Purnimako Raat Pani’, ‘Timro Tyo Hansilo Muharko’, ‘Yo Karmabhumiko Aanganma’, ‘Pratiksha Gara Meri Mayalu’, ‘Badal Banaideu’, ‘Garun Ki Mitho Bhool’ and ‘Bihaniko Siretoma’.

According to the organiser, Sudhakar Violin School, this special musical evening will feature 52 instrumentalists, including four artists from Norway, along with a choral presentation by 16 young people and children. 

 Musicians ranging in age from 11 to 70 years will take part, creating a musical bridge across three generations, informed the organiser. 

“I am preparing to offer an unforgettable experience for admirers of Nepali modern music through this programme. An orchestral concert of this kind will provide audiences with a distinct and enriching experience,” said Kharel.

According to the programme’s conceptualiser, Sudhakar Wasti, ‘Echoes of Eternity’ has been organised with the objective of preserving Kharel’s timeless songs and passing them on to the new generation.

“We are preparing this grand orchestral event to provide Nepali music lovers with a historic musical experience,” Wasti said.

The supporting institutions for the programme include Kathmandu Pragya Kunj School and Annapurna School of Orchestra. 

Singer Deepak Kharel is regarded as one of the most distinguished and timeless voices in Nepali modern music.

He formally began his singing career in 2034 BS with the song ‘Maile Racheko Geet’.

Through his songs, he has expressed patriotism, love, separation and human emotion in a style that is both simple and profoundly moving. 

With more than 400 songs and 14 albums, Kharel has greatly enriched Nepali music. His singing style is considered exceptionally difficult to imitate.

Kharel is honoured with the Gorkha Dakshin Bahu, National Talent Award, and Chhinnalata Award.
