By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Apr. 29: Writer Rammani Dhungle has come up with a collection of one-act plays titled 'Chamatkriti' in Nepali.
In an event organised by Phemkumari-Dornath Dhungel Literature Foundation in the capital, writers Govindraj Bhattarai, Kumar Koirala, Hariprasad Silwal, Ramesh Shubhechchhu, Ram Prasad Panta, Bimala Tumkhewa and writer Dhungel himself jointly unveiled the book amid a gathering of literary figures.
The book comprises 11 one-act plays each exploring diverse emotional, social, and philosophical dimensions.
Speaking at the event, critic Govindraj Bhattarai praised Dhungel’s craftsmanship and command over dramatic form.
Kumar Koirala, another critic, expressed his delight in encountering what he described as "a powerful and compelling collection of one-act plays."
"Of late, writers tend to gravitate towards short, populist pieces," Koirala pointed out. "Dhungel, however, has devoted himself to a genre like one act plays that many contemporary writers are reluctant to pursue."
Poet Prahlad Pokhrel commended the work as highly engaging and accessible, while critics Ramesh Shuvechchhu and Bimala Tumkhewa offered thoughtful analyses of the book’s thematic depth and structural nuances.
Addressing the gathering, Dhungel expressed his deep passion for dramatic writing and reaffirmed his enduring commitment to the genre.
Other speakers, including Nagendra Paudyal and Dilliprasad Multhun, also shared their perspectives on Dhungel’s literary inclinations and creative trajectory.
