Attaria (Kailali), April 28: The Food Management and Trade Company Limited (FMTC) Provincial Office in Dhangadhi has started wheat procurement in Kailali.

The company has started wheat procurement from farmers and agricultural cooperatives from two places in the district from today.

Office Chief Deepak Thapa shared that wheat procurement has started from Mohanpur and Tikapur godowns in the district and at a price higher than the minimum support price fixed by the government. The food management company is going to purchase wheat at Rs 4,250 per quintal even though the MSP of wheat fixed by the government is Rs 3,945 per quintal.

The company has a wheat procurement quota of 10,000 quintals in the district and there is a plan to purchase wheat worth 70 quintals from a farmer and a maximum of 500 quintals per cooperative from the agricultural cooperatives.

Office Chief Thapa said that farmers must bring their identity documents, a recommendation or certified copy of the ward where the farmer is certified, and a self-declaration form to sell wheat.

Last year, the company's wheat purchase quota in the district was five thousand quintals, but only 52.5 quintals was purchased. (RSS)
