Govt to table Constitutional Council Bill in House

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 25: The government has given approval to submit the Bill related to the Constitutional Council (Works, Duties, Rights and Procedures) (First Amendment) Act, 2023 in the Federal Parliament.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday (February 23) took a decision to this effect, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma informed on Friday. 

Speaking at a press meet organised to make the cabinet decisions public at the Ministry today, Minister Sharma said the cabinet meeting has decided to submit the financial report of the fiscal year 2021/22 to President Bidya Devi Bhandari as per the Article 53 of the constitution and the Section 41 of the Good Governance (Management and Operation) Act-2008. 

Minister Sharma, who is also the government spokesperson, said that the cabinet meeting decided to give approval to Dr. Meen Bahadur Shrestha, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, to participate in the 10th Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development programme to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 27 to 30. 

Also, the cabinet approved the visit of Dr. Ramkumar Phuyal, member of the National Planning Commission, to participate in the programme on Promoting Decent Employment for Women Through Inclusive Growth Policies and Investment in the Care Economy, to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from March 27 to 28.

Further, the government has agreed in principle to draft a bill regarding the operation and management of development projects. It also decided to fix the minimum support price of wheat at Rs. 3,351 per quintal for the fiscal year 2022/23. 

Similarly, the government approved the visit of Inspector General of Armed Police Force Nepal, Raju Aryal to participate in the medal parade ceremony of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) to be held in Sudan on March 1, and gave consent to Education Secretary Ramkrishna Subedi to participate in the school leadership study visit to be held in the UK from March 13 to 17. 

Likewise, the government has decided to withdraw the Copyright (First Amendment) Bill- 2020, registered in the secretariat of the federal parliament and currently under consideration at the National Assembly. 

Similarly, the government approved the visit of Secretary Suresh Adhikari of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, to participate in the International Tourism Fair (ITB) Berlin 2023, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from March 7 to 9. 

It has been decided to form a recommendation committee under the coordination of the Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to recommend names for the post of legal members in the Nepal Telecommunication Authority.

Spokesperson Sharma said that the government decided to appoint and post two persons at the 11th level of the health service as per the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.

Minister Sharma said that the government has also decided to keep open the public offices like land revenue and CDO offices, including banks and financial institutions even on the public holidays.
