By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 24: Dipak Raj Singh Thakuri netted a brace as Satdobato Youth Club beat Nepal Police Club 2-1 to advance into the semi-finals of the KP Oli Cup National Football Championship.
Prabin Thapa scored a consolation goal for Police in the inaugural match of the Championship held at ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Thursday.
Thakuri broke the deadlock in the dying minute of the first half while Police restored the parity from a goal off Thapa in the 49th minute. Thakuri sealed the match for Satdobato in the 71st minute. For his match two goals, Thakuri was adjudged Player of the Match.
Satdobato will face the winner between Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and New Road Team (NRT) in the last four of the tournament.
The National Youth Federation of Nepal organized the event to mark the birthday of former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chair KP Oli.
Altogether eight teams are vying for the title of the tournament. Host KP FC, Satdobato Youth Club (SYC), Church Boys United (CBU), Machhindra FC, Nepal Police Club (NPC), Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), New Road Team (NRT) and Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) are contesting for the title worth Rs. 1,000,000.
