Patarasi Municipality to provide health insurance to all citizens

By Our Correspondent,Jumla, Feb. 14Patarasi Rural Municipality of the district has decided to provide health insurance to all citizens. The rural municipality has said that the work has been started as per the policy and programme for providing health insurance to the citizens. The health insurance will be targeted to those who had earlier missed to join the programme. 

The rural municipality has said that the health insurance was the most popular programme of the municipality and efforts are being made to implement it soon. 

According to the policy of the rural municipality, it has also decided to provide financial assistance to two locals to study MBBS free of cost in five years.

The rural municipality has said that it has already provided Rs. 700,000 to one MBBS student as financial support. 

According to Ratan Bahadur Budha Thapa, chief of health section of the rural municipality, Nabin Roule, a resident of Patarasi Rural Municipality-4, was supported for the MBBS study, who is currently pursuing medical education at Devdaha Medical College in Rupandehi.  

The rural municipality has also made half-yearly review of the activities of fiscal year 2079/80 BS. In the public hearing programme, it was said that initiatives were being taken to execute the federal government's plan to increase rice production in Chumchaur, the world's highest rice-growing area.

A team comprising rural municipality chair Purna Singh Bohara and vice-chair Janamaya Rokaya said that they were taking initiatives to allocate the budget for the Chumchaur Gherwar project. Similarly, the federal government has allocated Rs. 5 million for the high-altitude sports training centre at Lotchaur, the highest point of Patarasi, at the initiative of the rural municipality. 

In order to maintain traffic security, the work has been started for the establishment of temporary traffic post at Urthu of the rural municipality. Initiatives have also been taken for establishing salt depot in Patarasi. 

During the public hearing, the details of the expenditure made so far were also made public. 

According to Chief Administrative Officer Dhital, the rural municipality has completed 41 out of 78 ward-level projects. Similarly, seven projects of the Prime Minister's Employment Programme have been signed. A total of 67 schemes for chief minister's employment programme have been forwarded with the signing of the Madhya Kinarakhola Embankment Agreement. The rural municipality has completed 206 projects in the last fiscal year. Similarly, the rural municipality has laid emphasis on upgrading the Urthu-Pere road, the main road in the rural municipality. 

Similarly, an earthing centre will be set up in Patan area along with the treatment of sheep and goats. Similarly, Rs. 19 million has been allocated for climate adaptation. 

During the public hearing, locals asked queries on the development issues including construction of telephone tower in Ward 2 of the rural municipality, construction of Chukeni Hydropower Project and installation of solar lights at the Patarasu market area.
