By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 10:  Around Rs. 11.7 million offering was made by the devotees in Salinadi of Sankhu during a month-long Shree Swasthani Festival.

Mijendra Kaji Shrestha, president of Salinadi Development Committee, said that around Rs. 2 million was collected from the land rent. The committee also collected some amount of money from the traders who ran their businesses using the public land on the temple premises.

The committee had invested around Rs. 2 million for the management of the festival.

Monetary offerings made by the devotees this year were less than last year’s.

Last year, the committee had collected around Rs. 16 million.

“We had requested the devotees to offer money to construct the Madhav Narayan Temple. Many devotees had donated over Rs. 100,000 in the name of the temple last year, but this year, only nine devotees donated over Rs.100, 000,” he said.

The new Madhav Narayan Temple is currently under construction on the premises of old Madhav Narayan Temple at the cost of over Rs. 50 million.

The collected donation has been used to construct the three-storey temple.

“Earlier, we had estimated that the construction work would complete at  Rs. 30.5 million, but the budget increased due to the wooden works. The cost will further increase if a golden pinnacle is installed,” he said.
