Road accidents claim 199 lives in 5 years in Kavre

Banepa, July 24 : Around 200 people died in various road accidents in Kavrepalanchowk district in the last five fiscal years. 

In all, 199 people were killed in the accidents from the fiscal year 2074/075 to 2078/079, according to the District Traffic Police Office. According to the office, 147 men, 35 women, 13 children and four girls were killed in the accidents in that period.  

Year wise, 44 persons were killed in the fiscal year 2074/75, 41 in 2075/076, 52 in 2076/77, 31 in 2077/078 and 31 in 2078/079. According to Traffic Police Inspector Rajesh Silwal, who is also head of District Traffic Police, motorcycle accidents topped the list with 337 accidents.  

In the fiscal year 2078/79, a total of 108 motorcycle accidents took place in the district. 

According to the police, 756 vehicles met with accidents in the past five years. Of these, 154 were trucks/tankers, 63 tippers, 71 buses, 103 jeeps, 337 motorcycles, 10 tractors, four auto rickshaws and 14 other vehicles.
