blog

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 11: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started placing flower pots along roadsides under its beautification campaign in an effort to make the capital city more attractive and environmentally friendly.

The Parks and Greenery Promotion Project has launched the flower plantation initiative under the Pride program titled “My Desire, a Beautiful and Green City.”

According to project engineer Sarkardeep Shrestha, flower pots have currently been placed in front of Singha Durbar, where begambeli (bougainvillea) flowers have been planted. These flowers bloom in a variety of colors, including yellow, red, and pink.

To ensure regular and long-term maintenance of the flowers, permanent cement pots have been installed along the roadside.

The Environment Management Department has been carrying out planting saplings, growing flowers, watering them, and weeding to help the plants flourish.

Engineer Shrestha said the project will gradually be expanded further into the inner urban areas of the city in the coming days.

The initiative is part of the metropolitan city’s broader plan to promote greenery and enhance the beauty of Kathmandu.
