Kathmandu, April 11: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party and former Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has said that the constitution could be amended to further strengthen federalism and ensure more rights to the people.
During a political training organized by the All Nepal Women Association (Revolutionary) at the party central office in Paris Danda on Saturday, Prachanda made it clear that his party was not against the idea of the constitution amendment.
"We will always back the government for its good jobs done constitutionally. But, we will counter from parliament and outside in case there were some attempts to violate the constitution and snatch people's rights, as well as the acts against the national interests," the CPN coordinator said.
He also mentioned that the issues being raised regarding the rights of the student union and trade union should be construed seriously.
Likewise, he added that whoever emerged victorious in the election under this system is the victory of the current constitution, republic system and inclusion.
During the event, the party's Joint Coordinator and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal asked the party cadres to be in the frontline to end social discriminations and establish people's rights, and to wage struggle in defence of democracy.(RSS)
