Tanahun, July 23: Internal Revenue Office, Damauli, in Tanahun, has collected a revenue of Rs. 9.24 billion in the last fiscal year 2021/22.
According to the Office, the revenue was collected from nearly 100,000 taxpayers in the district. Dr. Narayan Dhakal, chief tax officer of the Office, informed that the Office was able to collect more revenue than the target set.
About Rs. 140 million more in revenue has been collected than the target of Rs. 9.09 billion in the last year, he said.
He said that the revenue was collected from income tax, house rent tax, excise duty, health service, education service tax and interest tax.
According to the Office, around Rs. 6.17 billion was collected from the tax levied on the exported products, with more than Rs. 4.5 billion collected from Surya Tobacco Company.
In the previous fiscal year 2020/21, the Office had collected a revenue of Rs. 8.50 billion against its target of Rs. 8.56 billion.
Dhakal said that the Office has succeeded in collecting Rs. 746 million more in internal revenue in the last fiscal year than the year before.
According to the Office, about 67 per cent of the revenue was generated from excise duty, value added tax and income tax.
There are 93,328 taxpayers in all in Tanahun district, of which 47,294 are active tax payers under income tax, 45,479 under personal Permanent Account Number (PAN) and 555 people who deduct advance tax.
In the last one year, around 19,982 taxpayers have been added, including 13,242 to the personal PAN and 6,393 to the business PAN.
