Stunning visuals in Sacar’s new video

blog

By Mannu Shahi

Sacar Adhikari was first known to the masses with his appearance in the iconic Nep-hop show Raw Barz which is marked as a game-changing movement for the massive emergence of hip-hop culture in Nepal. The infamous rapper quickly gained a lot of admiration for his fluent, almost effortless, delivery, swell sense of musicality, snug articulation, and witty choice of words.

Born and raised in Kathmandu, the 28-year-old rapper took up his new artistic persona Lil Buddha paying homage to Yama Buddha: the late emcee and the main person to launch the Raw Barz movement in Kathmandu.

With two albums Tathasthu (2017), and Shreepaach (2019), and numerous singles released both as Sacar and Lil Buddha, the musician remains one of the most controversial yet desired figures of the Nep-hop community. On April 13, 2022, the emcee released an 18-track LP titled “Ecstasy In The Palace ‘’ on major global platforms.

Produced with his past collaborator Jxxded, the album was co-produced by @noto4l; recorded by Jxxded, Trap Nepal, Fuzz Studio, and Spark (OMG); the songs feature other artists such as Ninja, Starboi Virgin, Lil Noto, GOD, psykid, easyonthebeat,

Duke and CJ.

And last week on June 27, 2022, Sacar published the official video for the ninth song from the album titled ‘No Peace In Love’. Featuring Star Virgin on additional vocals, the splendid mv is directed by Astrojholey (NFTP). Only a week later the video is #1 on trending for music amidst Nepal moderated YouTube broadcast with over 1.4 million plays and counting. The video is also reported to be trending for music in Australia and the UAE moderated YouTube broadcasts.

Kicking off with a laid-back retro vibe; soothing sustaining notes and wide-angled drone shots; the song takes full shape with the tresillo beat very commonly found in modern western pop charting hits.

This looping pattern drawn from the Afro-Caribbean lineage molds the arrangement into a catchy dance tune infused with relaxing low-fi chill pop aesthetics. The spacey breaks in between the verses counterbalance the otherwise monotonous flow and create a thorough dynamic range with ambient lows and groovy highs all

over the song.

The stunning visuals elevate the level of the entire project: beautiful color correction, exquisite cinematography, glamorous ornamentation details, and incredible drone angles; all add up more depth and elegance to the

song itself.

A full-fledged romantic modern pop song, the two main characters i.e. Sacar and actor Shreya Shrestha play a passionate loving couple enjoying the perks of being in love, going places, meeting friends, partying just regular day-to-day of urban youth. The song on the contrary talks about a betraying partner but the video isn’t following the same

route either.

Some theories revolving around the song talk about the lyrics referring to the real-life past experiences of the rapper and his sour romantic alliances. Thus, the video could be a representation of his older memories or this could only be a fan analogy and not the real intentions of the emcee. So do check out the video in case you haven’t already, the catchy tune might just be the missing ingredient of your

current playlist.
