SEE preparations complete: NEB

blog

Kathmandu, Mar. 28: This year’s SEE will begin on Thursday, April 2. For this, the National Education Board (NEB) has released its examination schedule.

According to the NEB, 510,000 students will appear for the SEE this year, which is 4,000 fewer than the 514,071 students who participated last year.

The SEE has been postponed by 12 days this year due to the March 5 elections. Last year, the SEE began on March 21. The first day will feature the compulsory English exam on April 2, followed by the compulsory Nepali exam on April 3, and the compulsory Mathematics exam on April 5. Exams for Culture and Veda Vidyashram subjects will be held on April 6.

According to the board’s schedule, examinations for both the old and new technical stream syllabi will be conducted from April 7-12.

Out of the total number of examinees this year, 257,527 are female, and 252,434 are male students. Additionally, 63,000 students are exempted, while the remaining students will sit in the regular examination.

The NEB has stated that SEE question papers have been delivered to all 77 districts. A total of 1,991 examination centres have been designated. The board also confirmed that question papers and answer sheets have been sent to the District Police Offices in all districts. Nepal Police will deploy approximately 12,500 personnel across the country to ensure the examinations are conducted in a safe and orderly manner.

Speaking to The Rising Nepal, Tuk Raj Adhikari, Controller of the NEB, said that most preparations for the examination have been completed. The remaining tasks include conducting orientation programmes and appointing examination centre heads.

“We are fully prepared for the SEE. The work required at the centre level has been completed. Now, only the orientation programmes at the provincial and district levels and the appointment of centre heads are left,” said Controller Adhikari.

The NEB also stated that paper-based tests will be conducted in most districts immediately after the SEE concludes, in coordination with the Education Development and Coordination Unit. The board has set an annual calendar to publish the results within three months of the completion of the examinations.

Answer sheet evaluation will begin immediately after the exams, with results expected to be published in the first week of July.

However, NEB officials noted several challenges due to the tight schedule caused by the March 5 elections, which delayed the SEE by two weeks. A possible fuel supply shortage has also been identified as a major concern, as it could directly affect transportation.

"Examinations have been delayed by two weeks due to the elections. As a result, we will have only 75

days after the examinations, despite the responsibility to publish results within 90 days.

Nevertheless, we will complete all examination tasks within the stipulated timeframe. We have also considered potential challenges, such as fuel shortages, which may create transportation difficulties,” Controller Adhikari added.
