Two injured after electricity pole collapses

By Radha Luitel, Phidim, May 16: Two people have sustained injuries after an old electricity pole collapsed at Ghurbise Panchami Bazaar, located on the Panchthar-Ilam border, on Saturday morning.

According to police, the injured have been identified as 27-year-old Safal Ghising Tamang of Ranke, Phalgunanda Rural Municipality-3, and an employee of Subisu Net. Tamang suffered a broken arm, while the other injured worker sustained an ear injury.

Both injured workers were sent to the District Hospital in Ilam for treatment, said Sher Bahadur Rai, in-charge of the Phaktep Police Post.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 am while workers were removing wire from the pole. The old pole suddenly broke and collapsed, injuring the workers on duty.

Police said both injured persons are out of danger.
