Kathmandu, May 16: The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has advised various universities, including Tribhuvan University to ensure the retrieval of encroached land, protect such properties and utilize them for income-generating activities.
These recommendations have been highlighted in the 63rd annual report of the OAG.
According to the report, a total of 14,784,000 square meters of land owned by TU and its subordinate bodies has been encroached upon.
Likewise, 300 bigha land (one bigha equals 6,772.41 square meters) belonging to the Tikapur Multiple Campus under the Far West University and over 652 ropani of land (one ropani measures 508.737047 square meters) of Pokhara University have also been invaded.
The OAG, through its report, urged the respective universities to maintain the archiving of their properties at the central-level and coordinate with the concerned authorities to reclaim the encroached land.
It may be noted that the TU Land and Immovable Property Investigation Committee- 2081 BS, through its report submitted on December 17, 2026, had recommended that the TU reports cases of land encroachment and misuse of property to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police.
