LKGCB holds Mindfulness, Vision & Connection Workshop

blog

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 26: The Lumbini–Kapilvastu Global Campaign, Belgium (LKGCB) hosted the “Mindfulness, Vision & Connection Workshop” in Leuven to spread a powerful message of calm, connection, and collective responsibility at a time marked by global uncertainty, rising stress, and social fragmentation.

The workshop held on Sunday brought together a diverse and committed group of participants, including members of the Leuven Peace Movement, the Active Intercultural Federation (AIF+), representatives from the Chinese School in Leuven, along with peace activists, educators, community leaders, international students, and members of various local and international organizations. Their presence reflected a shared dedication to peace, intercultural dialogue, and social harmony, according to a press released issued by the LKGCB.

The afternoon opened with a deeply symbolic and moving gesture. LKGCB President Dr. Rajendra Bari and Europe Advisor Damodar Acharya gently lit candles at the center of the hall, illuminating the space and symbolizing the spread of light, wisdom, and peace from Lumbini—the birthplace of Lord Buddha—to the wider world. This moment set a reflective tone for an afternoon focused on inner wellbeing and shared responsibility for global peace.

Reconnecting with Ourselves: Mindfulness as Healing and Awareness

At the heart of the workshop was a deeply immersive mindfulness session led by Sabita Dahal, Coordinator and Trainer of Jeevan Vigyan Belgium, widely respected for her work in mental wellbeing, self-awareness, and consciousness-based practices.

The session was expertly translated into English by Narayan Adhikari, an experienced practitioner in meditation and healing. His careful interpretation ensured that the depth, intention, and practical aspects of the session remained fully accessible to the multilingual audience, strengthening collective understanding and participation.

Over the course of an hour, Dahal guided participants through simple yet powerful foundational techniques to reconnect with themselves—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Beginning with conscious breathing, the session helped release stress and bring attention fully into the present moment. This was followed by body-awareness and self-connection practices, encouraging participants to observe thoughts and sensations without judgment, supporting emotional balance and inner healing.

The session culminated in a guided deep meditation, creating a shared atmosphere of silence, grounding, and clarity. Participants emerged visibly refreshed, carrying with them practical tools for self-healing, emotional regulation, and deeper awareness—skills increasingly essential in today’s fast-paced and uncertain world.

“Inner peace is not something we need to search for outside,” Dahal shared. “It is something we gently reconnect with within ourselves. When individuals heal and become more aware, society heals with them.”

Responding to strong interest and positive feedback, LKGCB announced plans to organize regular monthly mindfulness and inner peace sessions, offering a consistent space for reflection, wellness, and community connection in Leuven and beyond.

From Inner Peace to Global Vision

The workshop then transitioned from personal awareness to collective purpose during the session “LKGCB Vision & Future,” presented by Dr. Rajendra Bari. In a clear and forward-looking address, he outlined LKGCB’s strategic roadmap for advancing global peace, structured around three interconnected pillars:

Pillar 1: Peace & Global Harmony

Promoting Lumbini and Kapilvastu as timeless centers of peace, this pillar translates Buddha’s universal teachings into contemporary action through advocacy for non-violence, nuclear disarmament, peace education, and intercultural dialogue.

Pillar 2: Planet & People

LKGCB reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), highlighting the strong links between peace, climate responsibility, social inclusion, and mental wellbeing.

Pillar 3: Partnerships & Global Collaboration

Emphasizing that peace cannot be achieved in isolation, Dr. Bari highlighted LKGCB’s expanding international network, including its official membership in the International Peace Bureau (IPB) since 2025 and collaborations with the Leuven Peace Movement, Active Intercultural Federation (AIF+), Lumbini World Peace Forum, Lumbini Development Trust, the Embassy of Nepal in Belgium, the Chinese School in Leuven, and numerous NGOs and global peace networks.

“Peace cannot be delivered by one organization alone,” Dr. Bari emphasized. “It is built through partnership, shared responsibility, and collective action. We invite you to build that future with us.”

Where Connection Became Reality

The event concluded with a Networking Reception, where reflection transformed into dialogue and collaboration. In a warm and informal setting, participants exchanged ideas, discussed shared priorities, and explored concrete opportunities for future cooperation—bringing the workshop’s theme of connection to life.

“The true success of this event lies not only in the knowledge shared, but in the diversity of people it brought together and the partnerships it initiated,” an LKGCB spokesperson noted.

Looking Ahead: Planned Activities and Commitments

LKGCB announced a robust calendar of upcoming initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to peace, cultural understanding, and humanitarian values. Planned activities include:

· Celebration of Buddha’s Birth Anniversary, honoring universal messages of compassion and nonviolence

· Commemoration of Hibakusha, raising awareness about nuclear disarmament and the human cost of war

· Celebration of the International Day of Peace (21 September) through dialogues, cultural activities, and public engagement

· Observance of International Migrants Day, promoting dignity, inclusion, and intercultural harmony

· Participation in the World Festival in Leuven, showcasing peace, diversity, and shared global values
