Hetauda, Oct. 26: Two poets have been honoured with the Dambar–Purnamaya Memorial Poetry Award in Hetauda for their outstanding contributions to Nepali literature.
The Dambar–Purnamaya Memorial Poetry Award 2080 was presented to poet and fiction writer Bhupin from Baglung, while the 2081 edition of the award was conferred on poet and literary critic Dr. Bindu Sharma of Kathmandu.
The award, established by poet Jenan Nepal in memory of his grandparents, Dambar Nepal and Purnamaya Nepal, was presented by Sahitya Sangam Makwanpur, one of the leading literary organisations in the district.
Both recipients were honoured with a shawl and a cash prize of Rs. 22,222 each. The honour was conferred by noted litterateur Dr. Nimesh Nikhil, along with Sahitya Sangam Makwanpur chairperson D.B. Bartoula and other literary figures.
The felicitation was held during the 360th regular literary evening of Sahitya Sangam Makwanpur. The event also featured the launch and discussion of Kathmandu Paradise, a travelogue collection by Hetauda–11 resident travel writer Rajaram Bartoula.
In addition, poet Jenan Nepal recited five special poems during the programme.
