Kathmandu, June 6: Minister for Health and Food Safety, Nisha Mehta, has directed the authorities concerned to address existing adversities in the supply and management of medicines in the market.
During an inspection of the Department of Drug Administration today, she instructed officials to take necessary measures to address the shortage of medicines, including those required in treatment of cancer.
She also wanted the concerned officials to ensure on-site monitoring of companies that have applied for permission for the supply and distributions of medicines and expedite the process, accordingly.
The Minister pledged to extend all possible support for the DDA's regulatory capacity enhancement, while asking the DDA management to furnish the details of human resources and other resources required for implementing prompt institutional reformative initiatives.
She also directed the bodies concerned to make necessary management for testing quality of generic medicines to be distributed by the government free of cost and those medicines to be provided under the Health Insurance Scheme.
