NEW DELHI, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) : At least nine persons died and one was injured when a portion of an under-construction thermal power project collapsed in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu, confirmed a local cop on Wednesday.
The mishap occurred in the state's capital city Chennai. All the deceased were laborers hailing from the north-eastern state of Asaam.
The laborers were working at a height of over 20 feet when the iron scaffolding installed for the construction of an arch suddenly collapsed, the local cop reportedly added.
The mishap reportedly occurred at the under-construction 1,320-Megawatt Ennore Special Economic Zone (SEZ) thermal power project late on Tuesday.
The injured worker was undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
