Indian Embassy donates books for RSS library

Kathmandu, Aug 15: The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has supported the library expansion campaign of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).     

At a function organized at the Embassy today on the occasion of India's 79th Independence Day, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava presented books related to journalism to RSS Executive Chair Dharmendra Jha. The embassy had announced book grants for 39 academic institutions and libraries including the RSS library.     

On the occasion, Chair Jha expressed gratitude for the books and expressed confidence that this initiative would benefit RSS and other journalists and journalism teachers and scholars who come to study at the library.     

The Embassy organised various programs to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of India, where the address to the nation by the President of India, Mrs Droupadi Murmu, was read out.     

At the event, Ambassador Srivastava honoured the widows and next of kin of deceased personnel of the Indian Armed Forces from Nepal and handed over an AGIF (Army Group Insurance Fund) cheque of Rs. 64 million.     

The program was attended by members of the Indian community in Nepal as well as embassy officials and their families.     

During the programme, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center at the Embassy and students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu presented a cultural performance of patriotic songs.(RSS)
