Faktanglung to provide a 75 per cent subsidy to local livestock farmers

By Sahara Limbu, Phungling, May 13: The Faktanglung Rural Municipality of Taplejung is all set to run a yak promotion program.

The yak promotion program will be implemented by providing a 75 percent subsidy to livestock farmers in the rural municipality. 

Chairman of the rural municipality Rajan Limbu (Mukti), the beneficiary farmers selected to participate in the yak promotion program will have to share 25 percent of the cost.

According to him, the yak promotion program is being implemented by the Procedure for Operating Livestock and Fisheries Development Programs 2081 from the funds transferred to the provincial and local levels in the current fiscal year 2081-82.

The rural municipality has stated that it has a budget of 800,000 rupees in the current fiscal year for the operation of the yak promotion program.

 Chairman Limbu said that the rural municipality will operate this program to encourage yak farmers who have been migrating in recent times.

Earlier, Sirijangha Rural Municipality had also launched a yak promotion program. 

In the district comprising eight rural municipalities and one municipality, there are yak farmers, especially in Faktanglung Rural Municipality, Sirijangha Rural Municipality, and Mikwakhola Rural Municipality.
