The Federation of Film Workers in Koshi Province, Nepal, issued a press release announcing the opening of applications for the festival.
The festival is being organised by the Film Director's Guild of Nepal, and the Nepal Indigenous Film Festival organisers.
The festival will be held on July 19 in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland.
The official announcement of the 'Nepal Indigenous Film Festival in Scotland was made during a formal event on February 10.
The festival is being coordinated by Vijay Dangol, and it is organised by the Nepal Scotland Association (NSA).
The festival will feature short films, documentaries, and language-specific films based on indigenous themes.
Arun Pradhan, the festival director, has informed that mainstream narrative films based on indigenous stories will also be honoured with awards and recognition.
The festival, which celebrates indigenous food, attire, culture, and films, will present awards and honours to artists.
The festival will include various activities such as an ethnic food festival, ethnic clothing display, film screenings, interaction programmes, honour ceremonies, cultural events, and an award distribution ceremony.
Vijay Dangol, the president of the Nepal Scotland Association and festival coordinator, expressed excitement about the festival, which will be held in Edinburgh for the first time.
He believes the festival will contribute significantly to the indigenous tribal film sector.
The festival is being organised alongside the famous Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, making it a significant event in the world’s renowned festival calendar.
