By Sudha Deo,Bhardaha, Saptari, Apr. 21: A man from Saptari district who had travelled to Dubai for foreign employment has been out of contact for the past five months, leaving his family in distress.

Dev Narayan Ram, 41, of Sirkajhari of Shambhunath Municipality-4, went to Dubai for work in 2022. According to his family, he has remained unreachable since mid-November.

Ram had travelled to Dubai in mid-April 2022 through Support Manpower and had been employed in a cleaning job at Dubai Airport.

His wife, Nilam Ram, said he had been scheduled to return to Nepal on leave on November 20, 2024, but he has not returned. She said her husband’s passport had been retained at the airport. After losing access to the passport, he had reportedly continued working at the same airport.

“He informed us that he was going to collect his passport on November 20, 2025. Since then, we have had no contact with him,” she said.

Nilam added that the family had been surviving on the money sent home by her husband, but they are now struggling to meet daily expenses. His disappearance has caused growing anxiety within the household.

The couple have two children, a seven-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son. Nilam said she has been forced to work as a house help to support the family.

Maya Ram Mochi, Ram’s brother-in-law, has filed an application with the Consular and Legal Counselling Section under the Department of Consular Services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu, seeking assistance to locate him and bring him back to Nepal.

Nilam said that despite submitting the application on December 8, 2025, the concerned office had shown no interest in the case. She appealed to both the government and the relevant authorities to help determine her husband’s whereabouts and facilitate his safe return.
