Chitwan, April 21: The Bharatpur-based Distribution Centre of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has blacklisted 277 power consumers for their failure to pay tariff on time.
They were blacklisted reasoning they did not pay tariff amounting Rs 10.4 million, according to Information Officer at the Centre, Nand Ram Bista.
They were taken action after they did not pay heed to clear outstanding dues. The number of nonpayer is of last one year. As many as 1,826 households faced power cut as an action for avoiding duty. The power cut was enforced in the households which failed to pay tariff for six months in a row.
There are total 74,876 electricity consumers under the Bharatpur Distribution Centre. The Centre has been informing the consumers in advance and resorting to power cut in case of gross negligence. "Employees at the Centre are working actively to make consumers responsible and take action accordingly," he added. (RSS)
