Itu, RamBhakta to be presented Chhinnalata Geet Puraskar

By Our Correspondent,Kaski, Apr. 25: The Chhinnalata Geet Puraskar will be presented to the musical duo Itu Jojiju and RamBhakta Jojiju.

 A meeting chaired by Dr. Basudev Tripathi, the chairman of the Chhinnalata Geet Puraskar Guthi, decided to honour the Jojiju duo with the 2081 BS Chhinnalata Award in the singing category, along with a cash prize of Rs. 100,000.

Singer and composer Rambhakta Jojiju expressed his happiness at receiving the award.

“It is a great desire for anyone involved in the field of art and music to receive this award. I am very happy to have received it. I express my gratitude to the Chhinnalata Geet Puraskar Guthi and the selection committee for considering us worthy of this honor,” he added.

The duo, Itu and Rambhakta, is known for their popular songs such as ‘Kunai Baatoma Timi Eklai’, ‘Tyo Kahile Ghaam’, and ‘Jahaan Bhamar Chha’.

 The song  ‘Udera Jun Chhunchhu Bhanthe’ written by Rajkumar Bagar, composed by B.B. Anuragi, and sung by Rambhakta, won first place in both vocal and lyrics categories in the nationwide modern song competition organised by Radio Nepal.

 That very song helped establish Rambhakta as a prominent figure in Nepali light music after the year 1997.

According to Dinesh Adhikari, the secretary of the Guthi, in the song writing category, Rajendra Rijal has been selected, and in music composition, Aabhas (Achyut Phuyal) will be honoured.

The Young Talent Award, with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, will be awarded to S.D. Yogi.

These awards will be presented during a ceremony in Kathmandu on the birth anniversary of the late lyricist and founder of the Award Trust, Ramola Devi Shah ‘Chhinnalata,’ which falls on July 6.
