By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aprl.1: A delegation of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has submitted a letter of attention to Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak.

A team led by FNJ General Secretary Ram Prasad Dahal handed over the letter on concerns regarding the violent protests that took place in Tinkune, Kathmandu,  on March 28.

The delegation urged the government to investigate the incident thoroughly and take necessary action against those who targeted media outlets and journalists.

Accepting the letter, Home Minister Lekhak said that the incident was carried out by an anarchic and violent mob with no ideological basis. He assured that the government is taking the matter seriously.

"The mob in Tinkune had no specific ideology or principle; it only had a definite criminal intention and goal," said Minister Lekhak. "The destructive group showed aggression, and journalists became victims of their actions. The Government of Nepal is serious about this issue." He assured that the government would conduct a thorough investigation into incidents where media houses and journalists were targeted, including the arson attack on a journalist’s residence, and that those responsible would face legal action.
