Anjila to be released in 16 countries

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 26: Anjila, the film based on the life of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, the captain of the Nepali women’s national football team, is set to be released simultaneously in 16 countries. 

The film will be released in the United States, Croatia, Qatar, Bahrain, Malta, Denmark, Portugal, Hong Kong, South Korea, Finland, Canada, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, Belgium and Sweden.

 According to its producer Prem Kumar Shrestha, the release in Australia is in its final stages. 

Likewise, he said that there is a high demand for the film in the UK, and it will gradually be released in various cities there.

After the release in Nepal on March 11, the film is now set for an international release in the countries where Nepalis are living.  The overseas release is scheduled for March 29.

In the United States, Anjila will be distributed by Seven Seas International, represented by Patrick Subedi. 

Director Milan Chams said that the number of shows and audience turnout are increasing daily. 

Both audience and critics have highly praised the film’s story, presentation, acting and direction.

 Anjila vividly portrays the inspiring journey of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, who moved to the capital with dreams of becoming a professional football player despite coming from a challenging family background. 

Directed by Milan Chams and produced by Prem Kumar Shrestha, the film stars Anjila herself in the lead role.

 Producer Shrestha is also one of the actors in the film and is considered Anjila’s ‘godfather’. 

Maotse Gurung and Dayahang Rai portray Anjila’s father, while Sirjana Subba plays her mother’s role.

 Sumin Gurung appears as her brother and Sunil Thapa takes the coach’s role.  Other actors in the film include Buddhi Tamang, Bijay Baral, Manju Shrestha, and more.
