By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 22: The Film Workers’ Welfare Fund, which has been working for the benefit of underprivileged and affected film workers in the Nepali film industry, has provided financial assistance to flood-affected film workers for the first time.
According to a press release issued by the Film Development Board, the Chairman of the Film Development Board, Dinesh DC, and the Chairperson of the Film Workers’ Welfare Fund, Basundhara Bhusal, provided relief of Rs. 45,000 per affected film worker.
Earlier, the fund had only been supporting film workers suffering from severe illnesses and financial hardship, but this time, it decided to extend aid to those affected by natural disasters as well.
Under this initiative, relief has been provided to members of the Nepal Film Artists Association, Nepal Film Technicians Association and Nepal Film Stunt Artists Association.
Film workers including Yadav Sitaula, Shiva Prasad Chaulagain, Santu Tamang, Kul Prasad Humagain, Gokul Humagain, Gyan Bahadur Tamang and Phanindra Bahadur BK received the assistance.
Speaking at the programme, FDB chairman DC said that the board was committed to the welfare of film workers.
“The Film Development Board is always sensitive to the problems of film workers. We must support those affected by natural disasters,” added DC.
Similarly, Bhusal pledged to continue the relief distribution programme. She said, “The Welfare Fund will continue fulfilling its responsibility to ensure the security of workers in the film industry.”
